I've made it to Rome. The first of many stops on my month of travel through Europe. What I can say so far is that it feels much like other cities. There is a bustling of both friendly and sketchy people all over and a few obligitory drunks sleeping on the park benches. Although, I have already seen more nuns and priests than other cities I've visited. Oh, and the smell of cigarette smoke should have been expected but is still a shock to the system.
My room has big windows that open out onto the street and the windows across the way are just as I've always pictured Italy. Some of the shutters are open, some closed, some have clothing or flags hanging from there. It's very beautiful image.
After my two hour nap its time to make some footpaths in this city.
